Basic Manufacturing
Make what you sell, and keep stock right while you do
Write down what goes into a product. When you produce a batch, the materials are used up and the finished goods are added to stock.
Basic Manufacturing is included in the Pro and Agency plans.
Sound familiar?
The problems this fixes
- You make or assemble products but track raw material in a notebook.
- You do not know if you have enough material for the next batch.
- Finished goods are added to stock by hand, after the fact.
What you get
What Basic Manufacturing does for you
Bill of Materials (BOM)
List the components and quantities needed to make one product. Keep it as a draft, then make it active.
Production orders
Run a production order against an active recipe for the quantity you are making.
Components used up
Completing the order reduces component stock, with allowance for wastage and scrap.
Finished stock added
The finished product is added to stock once, even if someone clicks complete twice.
Reverse a mistake
A completed production order can be reversed, which puts stock back.
Internal use
Record materials consumed for internal use without a sale.
Day to day
One production run
Write the recipe
Add components and quantities to a Bill of Materials.
Activate it
Only active recipes can be produced.
Create a production order
Choose the product and how many to make.
Complete it
Components are consumed and finished goods go into stock.
Good to know
- This is Basic Manufacturing: recipes (BOM) and production orders. It is not a full factory-planning system.
- The finished product uses its set cost price. Component costs are not rolled up, and production does not post to accounts.
FAQ
Questions people ask
Is this a full factory system?
No. It is for simple make-or-assemble businesses that need recipes and production runs tied to stock. It is not a scheduling or planning system.
Does it calculate the cost of what I make?
Not automatically. The finished product keeps its set cost price. We do not advertise manufacturing costing.
Which plan do I need?
Pro, or Agency which includes everything in Pro.
